Some Diwali Pictures, Woof & US

The proper Diwali post gets postponed yet again!! We are actually cheating today, trying to get away with just these few pictures!

It is 2 AM and we have all been on our paws and toes the ENTIRE day!

Woof is recovering and his paw isn’t hurting much judging from the amount of activity he has been indulging in. He is still limping though. We just hope the limp doesn’t get permanent.

Anyway, for now he is being a very active, regular puppy. He is hopelessly silly and wags his tail so hard we both need to dodge to keep from being hit at maybe 100 beats per minute!!!

And he follows Mummy everywhere so closely she needs to be extra careful not to trip on him.

He slept throughout the day till late afternoon when Mummy came home from work and let him out. He hadn’t messed up anything, including shoes and potted plants on the verandah, or hadn’t even..err.. had an ‘accident’.

For somedoggy who has been inside a home for just over 24 hours, he is doing very good we think. There have been two…err…pee-wee accidents since today evening and no potty ones yet, which we think is rather lucky for us.

Those accidents aren’t something we liked and left us pretty worried because we are two very fussy-about-cleanliness labradawgs. But Mummy cleaned it up rather well we think because, immediately afterwards, on close sniffspection, we found the floor play-worthy.

The only thing that has left us a little offended is that he has been trying very hard to hump Ginger.

Poor girl, she is so pawticular about good behaviour and is forever on her best herself. She has been rather upset since the evening.

Mummy & Daddy has been saying BIG ‘NO’ and ‘Bad Boy’ which he seems to understand a little . But for most parts, he is just a little puppy and has a long long way to go before he gets moulded into a gentle doggy. Till then, well, it will be some hard work.

We are so thankful for all your suggestions and even offers of help.It is just so nice of you all and it never fails to make our hearts swell with love and joy.

Anymore suggestions, especially about controlling the humping behaviour, is very much welcome. Potty training should be manageable. After all Ginger was much younger than Woof is when she came home and she got the hang of things within just about 4 months.

Well, things will settle down after sometime, we guess.

But for now, we are very excited and very happy to have Woof in our lives.

We want to say a HUGE THANKYOU to each and everyone of our bloggie friends for your love and encouraging comments. Mummy says heaps of thanks too for your appreciation and love. We would like you to know that you are our inspiration. All of you have done so much and always keep doing so much for us animal-kind that it never fails to inspire.

We are sorry we haven’t been along yet to read your posts, but we will get back to each of you soon. Yeah, we know you understand, but we just want to do it.

And much as we admire Shakespeare and believe that ‘ a rose will smell as sweet by any other name’, we don’t want our little brother to be stuck with the name ‘Woof’.

We have thought of ‘Shadow’ & ‘Simba’ & ‘Cadbury’. What do you think?

Could you make some suggestions, please?

Pondering,

Yay! I'm very much happy that things are going good so far.

Are your mom and dad gonna gets him, ahem, you know...snipped? That'll prolly help with that humping thing. Brudder Ranger tried to do that to me, too, when I first started living here. But mom and dad just kept stopping him with going "eh-eh" or "no!" and he finally gots the idea. Sheesh! He was trying to say he was top dog but I already knew that.

My mom thinks he looks a little bit like the beagle that she had when she was growing up and his name was Boone. After Daniel Boone. Do you know who that is over in India? If not, here's something you can read abouts him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_Boone He was an adventurer - just like Woof!

I, Miss Maggie, have been on the humpee end of things before and I would run from the problem rather than stand up to him. Mom kept telling me to just say no and I finally did and that was the last time that Charlie ever bothered me. Tell him off, Ginger! Let him know it's not acceptable behavior!
We like the name Shadow.

Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch

my lovely lady miss mayzie is right-o. as much as it pains me to even think about losin' the family jewels, it should help woof cool his jets. in the meantime, miss bunny's mama had a really good idea awhile back about takin' an empty can and fillin' it with beans or pebbles or somethingie like that and then coverin' the top of the can with duct tape. whenevarrr woof tries to...ummm...get friendly with miss gingin, shake the can. the noise will startle him. you can use that for anythingie you don't want him to do.
me and asa and mama like the names you came up with...our fave is cadbury! we think oliver or archie would suit him, too! we can't wait to hear what name you pick for woof!

We're so glad Woof is doing so well.:) All of those names are very cute.:) As for the humping...it could be a dominance thing. Just give him a friendly back off bark every now and then.:)

Oh this makes me sooooo happy that Woof is now part of your wonderful family! And I am so glad his paw is doing betters.

He is such a good looking boy, and he looks FULL of da love and personality!!

Now, about da name part....DO NOT ask my momma fur any name suggestions, cuz her still can't decide on a name fur my new sissie. sigh.

Butt, if you ask me, I think Woof is a pawsome name!! It suits him.

Lola and also Franklin, too said...

Yes, Ginger, if you put your paw down now, it will probably help. Franklin tried to hump me once, when he first got here. Just once. We have little squabbles about chewies and things, but he knew I meant business about the humping and never did it again. Of course, he'd already been neutered at that point, but not for very long.

I actually think that Woof is a real cute name. But I'm sure whatever you decide will be pawfect.

lotsa licks, Lola

So good to hear how well Woof is doing. We like all the names you have and the suggestions from others. But we think Shadow sort of fits, since he is following Mom everywhere.

We'd say the dreaded neutering is probably the best bet, not just for his behavior, but also for his health, since male dogs can get cancer, too. It will probably help with his housebreaking, too, since he won't feel the same urge to prove himself.

After reading his story, we were thinking maybe his name should be Lucky, because he definitely is!

Sure he knows now he is safe and loved!
About that humping thing... I don't know. Lets hope is just a phase... or you need to go to the neutering phase...
Take care

I think that Woof is doing a great job of housebreaking himself.

As far as Woof trying to have his way with Ginger I think that Woof should be neutered.

If you love Shakespeare then I think that is a wonderful name!

We're happy Woof is settling in so easily. Wonder if he asked for a new family for Diwali?

Woof must have prayed very hard for a loving home and got his prayers answered. Hugs!

I've just been catching up and am amazed and delighted that you've taken in that gorgeous little dog. I think Woof suits him, actually. As for the humping - Gus has done that from the day we brought him home at eight weeks of age. We tell him 'NO' followed by 'Good boy' as soon as he stops. He's learning!

Glad to hear that everything went well and Woof has settled down well too.

Nice to meet you both - thanks for visiting!!! Sounds like you are doing very well with a very active puppy! We have a seven month old golden retriever girl, and she seems to be getting more active - but she knows more commands also! Whew!
