Wrapping up….

Yes, wrapping up a few things, tying up the loose ends before we step into the new year…

…Mummy and Daddy’s goals at work – small and big, tidying up the house, getting the laundry done before the stroke of midnight(!!), friends and a few guests, special meal for our three street pups and new winter coats too, last minute shopping, return calls and messages, some cooking and some baking, braving the rain that has added to the chill and yes, MOST IMPORTANTLY - GETTING THAT LAST NAP OF THE YEAR before we pawtyyyyy!!!!

Hope you’ve had a beautiful Christmas and hope you’ll have an even more beautiful new year.

We leave you today with Neil Gaiman’s words…..

“I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.
Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.
So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.
Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.
Make your mistakes, next year and forever.”

Thank you so much for being friends, for coming by and sharing our lives. We treasure you, dear friends.

My Confession

P1060884

Finally, after running up and down the stairs (the lift, she said she felt was running too slow! Shesh!) , to the main gate asking the guards to be on the lookout, checking the garden and then some more running around the complex, up and down the stairs she came and found me right where she should have looked in the first place…the top floor terrace of our own block! Near the lift, waiting for her to come fetch me.

She could have just taken the lift up instead of running herself into a heart attack of sorts.

I had just gone checking to see if the fog was as thick high up there and she had to go worry herself to death.

Mummies, I tell you! You’d imagine it’s somehow my fault the way she has been going on about it.

Hope you’re having some lovely adventures,

Ginger

Mummy says we have taken over ALL her favorite corners in the house and she has nowhere to sit and read or blog in.

Don’t believe her. We know for sure it’s just an excuse so she can shift the blame for not helping us blog. Why, we do let her snuggle in and keep her feet warm. We ALWAYS make space.

Hope you are having a great start to the week.

What's wrong with our country anyway??!

Homosexuality ILLEGAL!!

Punishable by law!!

Says who? Says the Supreme Court!! You mean you want to jail, fine, punish people in whatever way you deem fit for being just themselves?

I thought we lived in INDEPENDENT India - the world's largest democracy! Here we are gearing up to celebrate Republic day in just a month and a half's time - a day we dedicate to celebrating our constitution and the highest judicial body in the country has made it altogether clear that we aren't allowed to live up to the values of true independence and freedom that the constitution embodies.

Upholding the constitution isn't about following some regressive, subjugating, moralistic idea based on 18th century values but about moving ahead with the times and letting people enjoy true freedom.

Upholding article 377 is like saying 'YES' to apartheid. Like saying yes to abominable crimes like rape or murder or child or animal abuse because it happens to a small minority anyway!!

And then of course, there's the debate that has taken on all political hues possible. Win votes by supporting LGBT, lose votes from the perceived majority against LGBT!

Seriously, are we actually crazy or just a plain ignorant, regressive lot? Here we claim to be the largest progressive English speaking country with the highest number of graduates on earth, highest number of computer literates and blah blah blah and we aren't even sure if we can let people lead their personal lives the way they want to.

This is just so sad, embarrassing and infuriating all at the same time!!

Do we need to be an animal to support animal rights, a cricketer to support team India or a beauty queen to use the cosmetic brand endorsed by one? Well, you certainly do not need to be gay to support gay rights. It's just plainly about humanity, moral dignity and FREEDOM in the true sense.

‘Understand that sexuality is as wide as the sea. understand that your morality is not law. Understand that we are you.’

……. Derek Jarman, English Artist

A prayer: May our country rise out of this darkness. Amen

Pee ess:  Mummy is super angry and has been seeing all red reading the papers. So we just let her deviate from our normal subjects and have her say here so she can let off some heat. It really isn’t on our agenda to discuss politics here but we do believe in absolute equality amongst all and a right to live free with dignity.

Paws up for THAT.

Life at our end

A lot has been going on at our end. A lot of activity involving work, Mummy’s entrepreneurial ventures (it’s her secret so we will let her talk about it when she’s ready!) and our regular life. Naturally we miss blogging and that makes us pretty sad. But we have been learning and reading and attending life seminars, and the things that we have come across over the past few weeks have proved pretty inspiring and thought provoking.

Second week of December. And here we are, still enjoying extended spring! Delhi should normally have been under a thick layer of fog by this time of the year and we should have been going for our morning walkies in total darkness!

But autumn is holding. The mornings are a tad chilly, the sun still gets up on time though a little reluctantly and we still wake up to the chirping birds and squirrels.

Mummy loves winter clothing and she has everything out and ready…coats, caps, boots, mittens, scarves but unless she means to suffocate herself to death, there’s no way she can wear these yet.

We are rather grateful for this extended pleasant weather. There’s so much one can get done when you get to breathe in lovely fresh air, enjoy refreshing walks and gorge on yummy winter treats.

It’s election time here in our state. Naturally every other political party out there is busy trying to prove it’s the best. In the process, our neighborhood parks got new bright flood lights! Now our nightly walks are much more fun because we are allowed to be off leash and run around as much as we like in the big park without Mummy worrying herself to death about us getting lost in the dark!

What is it that you’ve been up to? For many of you it is Christmas season. Have you been good? Are you already putting up your stockings? We must run over and find out.

Till then, you might ponder over this…
