YOU JUST HAVE TO READ THIS!!

Six thirty in the morning, we heard Woof howling and knocking at the gate. It has only been two hours since we slept. Mummy kept checking on him till a far-away wake up call of ‘cock-a-doodle-doo’ startled her into realisation that she hasn’t slept at all!!

After a breakfast of milk and biscuits, which he wolfed down heartily, Daddy let Woof out. He seemed to have a mission to complete, he was so intent on getting out.

We drifted off to sleep again, with an eye open for him.

11 AM. Tired, forlorn & hungry,Woof limped in. Another hearty meal of rice and chicken disappeared within minutes. Mummy settled him into his make-shift bed from last night.

Quarter of an hour later, he was in his preferred bed - a hole he had dug in a corner of our garden. At peace, content, sleeping peacefully.

It just broke our heart!

An hour of discussions. A decision for a life-time.

AND TAA -DAAAA…

Meet our new brother!!

Scrubbed, bathed, powdered, blow-dried, teeth brushed, ears cleaned…Woof is shining like new.

5 hours of deep NREM sleep later, Mummy had to shake him awake.

9 PM. One large bowl of Pedigree kibble and water wolfed down like a starving puppy!

Post dinner walk and post-walk excitement later, he is snoring into oblivion.

( YES! That’s my Baby-harness! Dog, He IS a pupif he fits into that!)

We don’t know how we will manage, how difficult it will be to get him house-trained, how well he will adjust when he has to stay in the varandah alone tomorrow when Mummy and Daddy goes off to work.

Yes, Mummy says it is prudent to let him be on the other side of the door when we are alone at home, at least for a few days. He can barely walk, his paw hurts horribly and he needs to rest. There will be vet visits, tests, x-rays. Till we know nothing is broken, we must stick to playing with just each other and not him.

It really feels good. It feels right to see him in our home rather than at the shelter.

And he no longer seems to have any un-finished mission. He seems content and at peace. **TOUCHWOOD**

Yawwnn…(sorry, very sleepy)

See you tomorrow,

BUDDY & GINGER

Pee ess: Can you imagine? We haven’t even had the time to read your comments yet and it is usually something we do very earnestly.

We shall get back to you very soon. Thanks so much for being bloggie-friends. We treasure you.

Pee pee ess: We SHALL publish our Diwali pictures tomorrow. **Cross our hearts** PROMISE !

Oh Buddy and Ginger - our tails nearly wagged OFF when we read this post, wonderful, wonderful! Woof obviously was meant to be with you - you can see it and we can feel it!

You are both so generous and kind and your mommy and daddy are simply wonderful - Woof was lucky to find you all.

We hope everything will go well with Woof over the next few days - we're sure there'll be a few hiccups as you all get to know each other but that's to be expected. We're very excited for you and can't wait to hear how it's all going. We just wished we didn't live so far away so that could give you a helping paw - and FH so wishes she could help too!

I'm catching up on your blog and remember very well when you were first telling us about Woof. I was so taken by him and prayed that he would be kept safe. I fully respected and understood why you couldn't take him in, and I'm so very thankful that now you have! I so hope it works out--We've house trained many dogs and usually the other dogs help them to learn the rules, and I'm sure he'll pick it up quickly! Please let us know how it's going!! We're sending prayers for healing and thanks that you are there for this precious pup!

BOL - Mom read yesterday's post to Dad and told him that Woof would soon be a member of Buddy and Ginger's pakc:) We just knew it was going to happen. We understand there is a lot to work out yet, but one day at a time. Woof is one very lucky pup to have chosen your home as his own.

Congrats on the new brother.

I can't say I'm totally surprised, but at the same time, well, your parents are just the most amazing, wonderful people in the world. I guess Woof has a lot to learn, but he will learn, I bet. He was smart enough to get himself a wonderful home, wasn't he? Is there a crate for Woof? Crate training seems like it might be the way to go while he learns how to live in a home. Ooooh, come to think of it, Mayzie had to learn to live in a house and be part of a family for the first time when she was older than Woof. Maybe her Mom has some advice on that.

This is probably the biggest happy news of our whole day. Woof is getting a chance at a good life when the odds were so against him.

lotsa licks, Lola

Oh, gosh, Buddy and Ginger. My mom is leaking buckets right now after reading this. I guess even though we hoped it, we didn't really expect it. Oh, what a lucky, lucky boy Woof is, to have found himself such a Most Perfect home. Please give your mom and dad lots of slurpy kisses from me, okay?

And tell your mom not to worry. I know Woof will fit in just fine. Both me and Brudder Ranger came to live in a house after we were all grown up and we didn't have any trouble getting the hang of the house training thing. I think it's cuz we were both so used to doing our business on the grass in the first place. Just keep a close eye on him and puts him on a schedule - just like you would do a baby puppy - and he'll be just fine!

Oh, gosh. I'm just wiggling and waggling all over!

I always wanted to know how you ended up adopting Shadow... and after a long "will check soon"s... I finally did read it.

I'm a big softy at heart and I really really understand to whole "can't get them used to ready-made food and then leave them to fend themselves" dilemma. Had it not been for that, I would have had ended up with a brigade of semi-adopted pet dogs near office and home.

Thanks a lot of sharing your precious moments, and thanks a lot for inviting Shadow in your life... and in ours as well.

lov,
Shrads
