WHAT HAPPENED LAST SUNDAY EVENING

Last Sunday, we all decided to spend the evening at home. We came back from an early walk, had an early dinner and settled down in front of the television.

Mummy and Daddy were all set to watch the finals of the IPL 2010, the biggest cricket game ever.

Initially it was pretty interesting. We kept getting small treats from whatever Mum n Dad were munching, while they kept rooting loudly for a team called ‘Mumbai Indians’.

Ginger and I tried to follow the match mostly because Daddy says, 'A Family that watches a match together, stays together'.

(Me concentrating)

(Ginger concentrating)

But I, personally, got bored very fast.
Mummy could sense I was bored and gave me a few belly-rubs. Ginger too got a few chin-rubs. But nothing helped to decrease the boredom.

What was this? One man throws the ball (that looks exactly like mine) and another, instead of catching it hits it hard with a bat!
To add to that, there were so many men running after the ball, none really able to get to the ball quick enough!
Huh! I could do better any day. And they call themselves professionals. Tch Tch..I shook my head to myself!

Anyway, I soon fell asleep at Daddy’s feet. And so did Ginger.

After sometime we woke up, realising that it was very quiet. Why wasn’t there any rooting going on? The match wasn’t over yet.
Mummy looked at our ‘just up from a deep sleep’ dazed faces and laughed. 'Were we game for a midnight walk?' she asked.
WoW! Yes, Yes, Yes…which Dawg in his right mind says “NO” to a walk?

OK, I get it. Her team was losing. No big surprise, the way these guys couldn’t even fetch a ball.

The walk cheered us all up. The best thing about a midnight walk is that there is no one on the roads and Mummy lets us go off without a leash.
Now, don’t get me wrong and venture out yourself. These are not the main roads which have fast night traffic, just our colony lanes.
We went and checked if our neighbours, the two Persian cats were awake. But no, not a wiff. Not that we were bothered though!

We checked on Hardy Boy, our Doberman friend. But he too was asleep.

So we just checked the peemails and enjoyed the night air.

The sky made a beautiful picture of light and shade as the moon got hidden by some floating clouds.
Daddy got busy with his camera and here is what he caught.

Finally we all came back, washed up and snuggled off to sleep.

And I don’t think Mum and Dad were all that sad that their team lost. The night air had done them good.
Maybe next time these cricketers would take a Labradude like me in the team. They would be un-beatable!
