CHEERING UP WITH COLOURS

Now, I am a very active Labradawg and it is very unusual for me to be quiet and subdued. This falling sick business has left me very disgruntled.

Also, I don’t want to see everyone around me so worried and upset. Ginger has tried hard to be perky and happy but I feel sad that I haven’t been able to play with her with the same gusto.

I tried though. Even when I was down with fever the other day I wagged at everyone, licked Ginger’s ears to thank her being being with me and tried to be near Mummy to keep her warm.

I tried my best to let everyone know each time I needed to go out and never once cried or complained about the horrid medicines I had to take. I know Mummy wouldn’t push something as bad as those meds down my throat if they weren’t somehow good.

So you see I have been a very good, obliging and adorable Labradawg, though a tad sad.
But today when I looked out of the window and saw the sun shining bright and nice outside, my spirits lifted.




I am feeling much better after my third mini afternoon meal today and I am almost 90% me.

It was Ginger who suggested we play True Colours.
Oh Yes! Why not? After all we haven’t played in a while and colour posts are always so much fun.
By the way, this meme has had a face-lift.
It is now called ‘BLUE'S COLOURED THURSDAYS and our very amiable hosts are the Adorable Duo, ‘Doyle and Mollie’.
This week’s colour is WHITE but we are doing a multi-coloured post, trying to catch up on KIWI and BURGANDY from last week.

And our favourite WHITEs today are our dear friends TEDDY BEAR and SEIRRA

From what Teddy tells us, he does have four BLACK fur-hairs. But that doesn’t disqualify him, does it?

SAFFRON!!

Quite some time has elapsed since we last played True Colour Thursday. Mummy wasn't up to hunting around for colours with her camera and we humoured her.
But we couldn’t let this week pass by because the colour this week is special for us. You will understand in a minute why.
The colour for this week is SAFFRON!

Saffron is one of our NATIONAL colours.
And how nice that this colour was chosen for NOW, because on the 15th of this month we shall celebrate our INDEPENDENCE DAY.

The colour SAFFRON on our National Flag along with Green and White had been chosen after much deliberation to depict and embody the essence of our large and beautiful country-INDIA.

Saffron signifies Patrotism, Sacrifice and Piety. Green is meant to symbolize Prosperity while White Peace, Purity and Simplicity.

The colour Saffron also has a religious connotation to it as it has been embraced by Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism to portray their diverse aspects.

Saffron actually is a very illustrious SPICE considered indispensable by an array of cultures since ancient days.
The culinary delight it provides is not only due to its bright, vibrant colour but also due to the accompanying exotic aroma.
Indian Sweets would lose their allure without Saffron colouring and flavour.

Arabic Coffee is considered deficient without saffron and cardamom in it.

It is an indispensible ingredient in the famous Risotto in Italy and Switzerland.

(Mummy has the recipe downloaded and promised to make some soon. Paws crossed!)

Saffron is derived from the stigma of the Crocus sativus flower. The plant blooms only for about three to four weeks and the stigma is harvested by hand to derive Saffron.

It is the bright red colour of the stigma which has made it so popular as a source of organic dye apart from its use as a spice.

We enjoyed sniffing around for Saffron. (But not many items were to be found which made us turn to GOOGLE, the surest store of ready images, for some of our illustrations as you might have guessed earlier in our post)

TRUE COLOUR THURSDAY #10

TANGERINE, a variation of the colour ORANGE, denotes JOY

YOUTHFULNESS

 EXUBERANCE AND ENERGY.

Touches of TANGERINE infuse warmth and life into any décor. When mixed with natural hues like Olive Green or Brown, it helps create a nature-inspired ambience.
Tangerine with pink however creates a rather psychedelic effect!!

(This Tribal-Design necklace of Ivory beads in a brown leather string came in this bright carry bag. Mummy assures us neither the Ivory nor the Leather is real.)

Many personality tests define people who like TANGERINE (and various other shades of ORANGE for that matter) as friendly and affable, perhaps because this shade is said to rouse cheerful and exuberant emotional reactions.

It is also said to promote appetite which is probably why it is abundantly used in restaurants, usually in combination with RED (We are thinking of KFC!!)
TANGERINE is a tertiary colour, the primary ones being RED, GREEN and BLUE.
