BOOO!!

What would you prefer...a spooky walk, tricks or treats?

We went for a nearly mid-nightly walk in our park tonight. Ginger ran away into the darkness, disappeared for quite a while and almost tricked Daddy into a heart-attack!
Well, that's probably why we didn't get any special treats!
Sigh!

TIME OUT!

Mummy brought home a bit of spring today. Tomorrow is Holi - a festival of colours which people celebrate by playing with powders that come is various shades of the rainbow and more.
So in addition to the colours all around us, we are going to wake up to a bit of our own spring out on the balcony. And oh!On the utility room shelf too which now has a strawberry plant in a planter. I thought strawberries only grew in colder climes but this planter proves me wrong.
Let's see if I can get it to give us fruits.

Sorry we haven't been around much. Have been trying to catch up on our reading a bit. Didn't someone say, 'Knowledge is everything'?

Well, I say ...

Well, must go sleep now. I'm too tired from taking care of Mummy and Buddy and all that reading and stuff. Both have the allergy sickies.
Whenever Mummy falls sick, Ginger just cuddles up to her and stays put while Daddy gets totally burned out from taking care of us, the house and work. So it's always I who have to take charge around here - chase away the birds, scare off the noisy creatures outside, get the door, the telephone and generally keep everyone's spirits up and try get them to play and laugh a bit. It certainly a tiring job.

So, for today, it's

Good night, Everypuppy. Or Good day - whichever is applicable in your corner of the world.

MUTT BOY

I am a mutt.

The Most fiercely loved, the Most deeply valued,  the Most warmly cuddled,  the Most handsome,  bravest, smartest and the most sensitive Mutt pup in the whole big world!

Mummy says our family picture is incomplete without me.

I love being me and I am in no mood to change my 'mutt' status anytime soon.

Well, make that 'ever'...

Signing off,
Shadow

We are going ….

We are terribly sorry we haven’t been able to visit any of you of late or reply to your mails.
The last couple of days have been extremely busy. We just finish ticking off one list when a new longer list crops up from nowhere!!

We are trying to get most of our ‘Shift to Delhi’ related issues sorted before we start for Goa.
After all, Goa is supposed to be a sabbatical and we don’t want to spend our time there thinking and planning about what needs to be done when we are back in Hyderabad!

We just want to cut down our ‘To Do’ list to a minimum so we can relax, explore, take photographs, eat and just enjoy the sea….

Oh! We forgot to tell you!
We did find a really nice sounding place to stay in Goa.

The lady Mummy talked to informed us ‘No swimming in the Pool’ and ‘Damages must be made good in cash’.

We really do not understand what pool she was talking about.
The sea? But she can’t stop us from swimming in the sea, it doesn’t belong to her.
Was she, by any chance, talking about the swimming pool in the resort? But who cares about a tiny swimming pool when you have the WHOLE sea to yourself?
Silly woman!

And what is this thing about damages? Why should she think Mummy and Daddy would damage something? Mummy does sometimes bang things when she is angry but they are pretty well trained and not inclined to ‘Damage property’!

We think the lady in question will learn to trust us better after she meets us all.
The most important thing is that she said ‘Yes’ in spite of all her apprehensions.

It is supposedly a studio apartment close to the sea and we hope to go for our morning walks in the beach! Mummy is rather excited that she will have a nice little kitchenette to try out all her yummy sea food recipes!!
Hope this place lives up to our huge expectations!!!

Our car got a make-over today.  Brand new tubeless tyres which are far safer than the ones with tubes and a huge lying-down space at the back.
Yes, the rear-seats have been removed and a comfortable new mattress installed so we can sleep if we want to.

It will be a long drive, nearly 14 hours. We mean to start very early on the morning of 25th, say around 3 AM, so that we can be in Goa by evening.
But then, we have also kept the option of making a halt midway if the journey gets too tiring.

We are a little worried about Shadow. Though he is very tough and smart, he is still just a puppy. This is going to be his first real long trip and we are worried he might tire.

We will be carrying our satellite net connection and are hopeful we shall be able to sit by the sea and blog by moonlight!

100308

But just in case the net fails us and finding an alternative gets too cumbersome, we want you to know that we might disappear for about a week because we are going on a BEACH HOLIDAY!

YOO HOOO…!

We promise to come back with heaps of new stories to tell. Please be safe and keep wagging till we see you again…Open-mouthed smile

EXCUSE ME…

I don’t mean to be offensive but I am just so fed up of people referring to me as ‘Just a street dog’.
Doesn’t vilification amount to misbehaviour, racism and abuse?
I think it does.
Period.

HAPPY BARKDAY, MUMMY

Thank you so much, Dear Friends for all your suggestions. You finally helped us decide on an idea that worked out well. We want to tell you all about it but, right now, we have a very important affair to attend to.

This is just a quick little post to say ‘Thank You’ to you all and also ‘HAPPY Barkday’ to Mummy once again before her day ends.

6

About that affair.

Well, we are watching the Oscars - the re-telecast. Not our fault that we missed the live telecast. It is the sun and the earth and the latter rotating on its axis over 24 hours that made it impossible for us here in India to get up at the hour it was on live.

Anyway, we got to go now. Can't afford to miss THIS telecast too.

Wags,
Buddy, Ginger and Shadow

Pee ess: Mummy says HEAPS of Thanks for all your wishes. And she says you really completed her day.

MUSIC and LYRICS

luggage blue

It is time.
We have started the process of packing to move to Delhi.
And from the looks of it, it is going to be quite a process!!
There are heaps of paper work, heaps of things to be packed and lots more to be disposed off .
The pictures below aptly illustrates the state Mummy and Daddy are in right now!!

work1

work3

We decided to take matters into our paws and arrange for some de-stressing time.

In our family, music is something we all turn to as a stress-buster.
You will always find something playing, irrespective of the hour you turn up at our home.

Now, if Daddy had his way, it would be Guns and Roses, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones or something as chaotic similar blasting away!
But fortunately, he doesn’t get his way!
In this matter, he is simply overruled by a vast majority!!
Therefore, at most times it is some soothing, old classical or soft Blue tones that emanates from our speakers!

We pups especially prefer ‘The Blues’. They never fail to lull us to a peaceful sleep in the midst of chaos and even fire-works outside!
And they seem to help Mummy’s migraines too.

Well, for the last two days Mummy has been rather tired and ‘headachey’.
We decided a serious music session was in order to help de-stress everyone.

You probably do not know but Ginger is quite a composer. She has these moments of deep deliberation and revelation, time and again.
She doesn’t like to be disturbed then and quite prefers to be left alone to her musings.

Daddy, of course, gladly puts music into her lyrics.

(Yeah, That’s better!)

I, Buddy, have always been the lead vocalist while Shadow, very deftly edits and records all our efforts.

And Oh! You might be wondering where Mummy fits in.
Well, you do need an appreciative listener, don’t you?

Here is a sample of our recording session. Please tell us what you think of it.

A Special HARVEST FESTIVAL

P1140844

Today we celebrated a special Festival commemorating the winter solstice and the end of the Harvest season.

Yes, we know we are not farmers and we do not own any agricultural land but this doesn’t deter us from celebrating this special Harvest Festival which is associated with a great deal of feasting and festivities.

Know by different names in different parts of India, this festival is like an Annual ‘Thanksgiving’ Day.
Prayers and Thanks are offered for the full granaries, people exchange sweets and prepare special dishes to mark the occasion.
Children go from door to door, singing folk songs and are gifted sweets, savouries and sometimes money.

These collections are called ‘Lohri’ and hence, in the North Indian states of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana, the festival is called ‘LOHRI’ or ‘LODI’.
Like most Indian festivals, there are many legends associated with this Harvest fest too. (You might want to read about them HERE)

In India’s North-East it is called ‘MAGH-BIHU or BHOGALI-BIHU’.
‘Magh’ is the Assamese month starting from mid-January while ‘Bhogali’ is the word derived from ‘Bhog’ meaning ‘A feast’!

The name is associated with the abundant feasting that is a part of this festival.
Traditionally, people stay up overnight, dancing and singing around a bonfire, feasting on special barbecued food.

In Western and parts of Southern India, it is called ‘Makar Sankranti’ while in the Tamil Nadu, it is called ‘Pongal’.

One special feature of this festival in the Western Indian State of Gujarat is the beautiful ‘KITE FESTIVAL’. It is almost a week long event and attracts people from all over the world.
The skies are dotted with exquisite creations which are truly lovely.

Some lovely kites are being sold all throughout this month, here in our city too.

We decided to have our own bonfire and barbecue last night on the terrace.
This will be our last ‘January Fest’ here before we move to Delhi and we decided to have fun on the terrace one last time.

Our plan was a rustic, traditional ‘Barbecue Night’, without the electric grill or the rotisserie, which meant Mummy and Daddy had to go to the woods to collect fire-wood and hunt down a bird or two.

P1140783

Or so we thought till we saw these pictures!

Ha! Not only did our chicken come out of a super-market shelf, Daddy bought our wood at this shop he found!

P1140782

 P1140786

Our make-shift grilling board, though, was more in line with our ‘rustic’ plans!

P1140805

We were a little doubtful initially, about the fire. The crackling noises disturbed us a bit.
And believe it or not, our Puppy brother turned out to be the bravest of us all!!

P1140807

He was the first to go upstairs to investigate the goings-on!! And then, he settled down with Mummy beside the fire.

P1140896

I, Ginger, chose the Safest place- Daddy cushion!

P1140881

Now, there isn’t such a thing invented or discovered yet that can keep Buddy away from yummy food.
And of course, the crackling fire was no exception!

We had a lovely time last night, and collected warm memories of our time in this home.

P1140897

Today morning, we all went to the rocks for our walk.

Now, we do believe that whatever happens actually happens for a good reason, however small or inconsequential.
I, Buddy, was complaining the other day about Mummy not finding the time to help me with my ‘Special Morning Walk’ post.
Good that that happened. Because, after our walk today morning, I have some nice photographs for you.
We will definitely post them in our next post.

Have a good weekend, Everybuddy
